Comments:

My name is Ted Rodriguez. During my last year (1965) at Highland, I drove a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible, painted metallic blue with white top. After graduation I was drafted in the US Marine Corps and became a Helicopter pilot serving 2 years in Vietnam (65-66). Returned with a few injuries, 8 to be in fact, and joined the US Navy in 1966 and worked on the USS Valley Forge (LPH-8) for 4 years as an aircraft mechanic/handler and working the control tower during flight operations, getting out in January 1970. I married in February 1970. Joined the Air Force in April 70, and became a pilot on T-39 & C-21 & C-23 aircraft. Spent 17 1/2 years flying all over the world in T-39's, C-20's, C-23's, F-15's and A-10's. Became a maintenance instructor on A-10A's. Retired in Dec 87 as an E-9 with 25 years service. Yes, I was one of only 3 Enlisted Pilots in the Air Force (since I was a rated pilot in the Marine Corps and Navy). I worked for the US Army as a Civil Service working at Fort Eustis, Virginia and Fort Monroe, Virginia since my retirement from the military. I worked as the Aviation Division Chief for the Army at the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Monroe, Virginia. I retired in 2012 with 50 years of Federal Service under my belt. Married to my second wife 18 years ago and live on the Chesapeake Bay with 15 acres and a pier out about 300' into the bay with my 25 foot boat waiting for my long days of retirement to fish as much as possible. I've had a really great life and would not change anything. I'd do it all over again if I had the chance. Write or email if you wish. God bless you and keep you safe.

School Story:

In August 1964, my family had just returned from a tour of duty in Japan and I had all my credits, except two to graduate, so I took basic math and an English class. During my Senior year I drove a metallic blue 1959 Ford Convertible with a White Top. Parked it in the school parking lot. Went to almost all of the Hornet football games and tried to keep up on the studies. I graduated in January 1965.
