Jimbo,Charlie Lujan here.I was in your neighborhood this morning and I thought of you.I think of you guys that have passed all the time.All the good times we had when we we're growing up.Now retired and all have it made but I sure fill sorry for this generation.Times have changed for the worse.Everything is so out of control.Well we grow up at a good time.Another friend of mine passed away,it's sad.Well Jimbo say HI to my friends up there ok.Talk to you later.
Jimbo died in a car accident on Zuni S.E. near Wyoming in the early morning of April 28, 1973. He left NMSU in 1968 and joined the Marines with Gordy Smith, was sent to Vietnam where he saw combat in the DMZ and at Khe Sanh. He was wounded twice and spent a few weeks on a hospital ship. He served the last few months 'in country' as an MP. After returning from Vietnam he went to school at UNM and later (1972) joined me and friends in the Bay Area where he worked for a year with the VA, helping to counsel returning vets. He came back to Albuquerque in early 1973 where he was killed in April.
'The Bo' was one of a kind -- we had a few differences along the way, but I loved him deeply, still miss and dream about him. He had an amazing way with the girls...they just gravitated to the boy. I fondly remember Charlie Lujan who was a real pal to Jimbo along with Jack D'Ambrosio, Tom Livingston, Ken Hernandez, and Gordy Smith. This gang did get in some trouble together, but always enjoyed themselves.
